ABOUT
our program

If you're looking for a well bred, high quality, socialized, loved and adorably fluffy family member, then you found the right spot! Here at Brinkerhoff Doodle Farm we put all of our time and effort into giving our puppies the best foundation for a happy and long life. That starts with picking the best representations of the breed and completing genetic and health screenings. All of our breeding dogs have completed their PennHip exams by a professionally trained and licensed vet, have genetic certificates, predisposition screenings, are clear of genetic disorders, have had their coat and colors tested through Embark, are CKC registered and have the ideal personality and temperament to give their offspring the best chance in life.

What makes us different?

Our puppies and program are guided using the Badass Breeder curriculum. What does it mean to be a Badass Breeder? Click here to hear from the founder.

We introduce our puppies to using Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) during their first few days of life.

ENS was developed by the US Military Special Canine Unit and showed that introducing puppies to small amounts of controlled stress during the critical early growth period forces their bodies to compensate, thus creating stronger bodies. It was shown that these early interventions resulted in adult dogs who had stronger heart rates, stronger adrenal glands and were more disease resistant with a stronger immune system.

ESI helps puppies to develop their nose better during that same critical time, days 3-16, in a puppies life. This is crucial for dogs that need to use their nose for work like police k-9s, hunting dogs and diabetic alert dogs to name a few. This is also useful for any puppy to build their confidence in one or more areas of their life.

Starting at 3 weeks of age, we start a 10 step handling exercise to get puppies used to being handled in a variety of ways. This helps them to be compliant to children, vets, groomers and anything else that may come their way. We introduce them to nail clippers, baths and blow dryers. From there we introduce potty training, crate training and lots of exposure activities like car rides, loud noises, unique smells and challenges to help develop a confident and well adjusted puppy.

We also temperament test our puppies at 7 weeks old to determine their personality and other traits that will help us in placing them in the perfect home. This is how we tell which puppy will be perfect for your family. Once temperament testing is complete, families will be able to view testing and then pick their puppies in order of reservations.

Doing all of this, is our way to give our puppies a voice. They can show us what type of life they are best suited for. Some will be best suited for therapy work, some will make strong and steady facility dogs for schools and places of business, others can be trained to detect low blood sugar levels, and most will become the best companion and family protector you could ever dream up.
